1. What One Pound a Month does

We help people give small, regular backing to independent shops, cafés and pubs they value. We are the platform — not the business you're backing.

2. Being a backer

  • You must be 18 or older and legally able to make recurring payments.
  • Your backing is a voluntary gift of support, not a purchase of goods or services.
  • You can cancel any active backing at any time; no future payments will be taken.
  • The business you back receives the payment through its connected Stripe account and is the merchant responsible for that payment.
  • Because backing is a gift of support, past payments are not automatically refundable. We and the business will always look at genuine mistakes fairly — email hello@onepoundamonth.co.uk.

3. Being a business

  • You confirm you have the right to represent the business you apply to add or claim.
  • We may verify your business and reserve the right to decline or remove any listing.
  • You agree not to imply that backing is a purchase, discount scheme or investment.
  • You receive backing through your own connected Stripe account and are responsible for refunds, disputes and the information you give Stripe.
  • Stripe controls payout timing and may pause payouts or ask you for more verification information.

4. Payments & fees

Stripe takes each payment directly for the business through its connected Stripe account. Stripe deducts its payment costs, and One Pound a Month receives a 10% platform fee. The supporter is not charged an added platform or card fee. Current examples are published on our Fees page. We may change our platform fee for new backings only, with reasonable notice.

5. Acceptable use

No fraud, no misrepresentation of a business, no unlawful content, no attempts to interfere with the platform. We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

6. Liability

We provide the platform "as is" to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for the actions of any business you back, and businesses are not our agents. Nothing here limits liability for things that cannot lawfully be limited.

7. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be notified by email or on-site. Questions: hello@onepoundamonth.co.uk. Governed by the laws of England and Wales.
